The first successful flight of a new unmanned aerial vehicle system for remote sensing detection of artificial weather conditions
On the afternoon of July 25, 2022, at 18:37, China's new unmanned aerial vehicle system for remote sensing detection of artificial weather was successfully launched into the sky at Pucheng Airport in Shaanxi Province after two years of research and development. After completing all the functional performance tests of airborne remote sensing detection and operational instruments and equipment in 1 hour and 15 minutes, the drone landed safely, marking the successful first flight test mission of China's first medium to large capacity, long endurance artificial weather modification unmanned aerial vehicle system.
This type of UAV system is led by the Aerospace Information Innovation Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and jointly researched by 704 Institute of the Ninth Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Group, Xi'an Lingkong Electronic Technology Co., Ltd., Shaanxi Weather Modification Center, Xinyu Guoke, Zhiyi Aerospace (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd., the National Engineering Laboratory for Remote Sensing Satellite Applications, the State Key Laboratory for Special UAVs The National Engineering Research Center for Satellite Navigation Applications and other units gave strong support and help.
Since the "13th Five Year Plan", the Aerospace Information Innovation Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the 704 Institute of the Ninth Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Group, Xi'an Lingkong Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. and other units have focused on the urgent needs of economic and social development, through the national key research and development plans, civil aerospace projects and other traction, and focused on the development of hollow, large load, long-term UAV platform and space-based cloud rain aerosol wind quantitative remote sensing technology, With the goal of building an integrated air ground equipment system, we have explored a new mode of collaborative research among research institutes, testing and application units, and achieved deep integration between the new unmanned aerial vehicle system for remote sensing detection of artificial weather and the provincial artificial weather command platform.
This type of drone system is modified and designed based on the LK-2000 drone platform of Xi'an Lingkong Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. It has the characteristics of large payload, long endurance, low operation and maintenance costs, high safety, and fast deployment and deployment.
The airborne equipment system is mainly developed by units such as the 704 Institute of the Ninth Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Group, based on the new generation of spaceborne cloud and rain, aerosols, and wind measurement radar in China. It has innovatively achieved functions such as laser microwave dual active composite detection, active passive joint detection, and remote sensing in situ detection. It can achieve multi-dimensional and quantitative remote sensing detection of atmospheric elements such as clouds, rain, aerosols, and wind along the route. The overall system has the ability of real-time fine detection, intelligent analysis and judgment, precise catalytic operation, and scientific effect evaluation.
During the experimental mission, the Shaanxi Provincial Artificial Weather Modification Center organized ground collaborative detection and unmanned aerial vehicle meteorological support, providing strong support for the smooth completion of the experimental task.
The successful maiden flight of the new unmanned aerial vehicle system for remote sensing detection of artificial weather effects marks a milestone in the construction of multi-dimensional and multi element unmanned aerial vehicle remote sensing detection technology and means for engineering applications in China. This system plays a demonstrative and leading role in economic and social development such as disaster prevention and reduction, ecological environment protection, etc.
